Improve Egg Quality Naturally {EXPERT TIPS}

One of the most important things I can teach you is that, when it comes to your eggs, QUALITY is so much more important than quantity. And while you may have heard differently, you can DEFINITELY improve the quality of the eggs you have left.

That's what I'll be talking about in this video, ways that you can improve those eggs naturally! (That's not to say you won't need other treatments- we absolutely welcome and support ALL the different ways to make a baby. But this can enhance what you're doing with your medical team)

Hello. How is everyone? Welcome back, another week, another live, where I get to come to you and share what I think is some of the most important information for you to optimize your health, your fertility, your vitality, your life, your alignment, your feeling in touch with you, that's what I am here to help with, and I am psyched. I'm Aimee of aimeeraup.com. I come to you live every single week. You guys are so excited, woo hoo. Yeah, get to come to you live every single week and talk awesomeness. I've been in the business of writing books for the last 10 years. I've written books over the last 10 years. I've been in clinical practice as an acupuncturist and herbalist for 17 years. It'll be 18 in December, actually.

And what else? I've helped thousands and thousands of women at this point achieve their successful pregnancy and dream baby. I've been working with women all over the world through my online programs, through online coaching, for the last five years. I have a team of fertility coaches at this point, and I'm just so honored and psyched. I'm an herbalist. I'm studying functional medicine. I have a background in biology and chemistry. I was a research scientist. I'm a total freaking nerd, and I love to nerd out on ways I can help you live your best possible life.

And so today, we're going to talk about a really, really common, community question that I get all the time, that you probably wonder all the time. And it is … Are you ready? Drum roll, please. Can I actually improve the quality of my eggs? How do I improve my egg quality naturally? Can I really improve my egg quality? Don't all my eggs just get bad as I get older? I did a quick Google search before I came on because I just wanted to see what the quick Google search, the phrase I used was: Can I improve my egg quality? I see people, Istanbul, Philippines, London, look at you guys. Thank you for telling us where you're from. I love seeing everyone join.

So there was 146 million results, but the first page, the number one thing, IVF clinics pop up right away. CoQ10 pops up, It Starts With the Egg, the book, although it looks like someone's actually using It Starts With the Egg as their SEO because the book is so popular, but it's not actually the book's website. The first thing that comes up that I think is useful, it says, “Taking fertility supplements, eating a healthy diet, incorporating yoga into your routine, managing your stress will improve all of the bodily processes that support fertility and quality egg development.” I don't disagree with that.

CNY fertility, how to improve fertility after the age of 40, the best way is to focus on overall health, take fertility supplements. So this is the same thing. They recommend certain, their own fertility supplements, molecular fertility, vitamin E, zinc, folate, vitamin A, so some of these are really, CoQ10, fish oil, good recommendations I think, actually.

Another one said, “Seven steps to improve egg quality, stay away from cigarettes, manage stress, eat healthy, achieve a normal BMI, boost blood flow, invest in supplements, freeze your eggs.” Some of this is useful, some of this is not. Someone else says, “Extend fertility, there's not much you can do when it comes to improving your egg quality. Egg quality is not a scale of healthy to unhealthy with measures in between. It's a binary state of either normal or abnormal.” I would tell this author to actually do some research because that's actually not the truth.

The truth is that every egg in your body has all that it needs, chromosomally, normal. I did a live weeks ago with Dr. Merhi, reproductive endocrinologist, and he said just that. All of the eggs in your body are not bad, they are actually good. And this is what I talk about in all of my books, The Egg Quality Diet, Yes, You Can Get Pregnant, namely it is about the internal environment in which those eggs develop which determines their health. And so every egg in your body, and mind you, when we're in menopause, we still have about 1000 eggs left, guys. So we don't run out of eggs, they're not all gone, they're not slowly diminishing. You don't just have two left. Remember that. Even if your FSH is high, your AMH is low, you still have eggs in your ovaries.

So it's about the environment in which they development, and then also the sperm with which they create the embryo with that then determines the embryo quality. But the egg quality, the inner piece of the egg has your 23 chromosomes, and it's surrounded by fluid. That fluid is filled with whatever's floating around in your body, basically. Is it a toxic environment? Is it a healthy environment? Are you getting enough antioxidants through your diet? Are you managing your stress? Are you getting enough sleep? Because all of that is that surrounding fluid, so when that egg is developing, that surrounding fluid is now impacting that chromosomal area, chromosomal arena, mitochondrial function.

We are about improving the function of the overall cell, cells in the eggs, in the ovaries, in your body, that will then improve your egg quality. Now I know as a clinician, I've been practicing again, it's about 20 years working with women all over the world, but in the tri state area, working with women in the tri state area for the last 20 years, helping them optimize their health, their vitality, their fertility. I know for a fact women get older and their eggs get better. They make healthier embryos as they do the stuff I help them do.

I guide them on diet, on supplements, on herbs, on acupuncture, on lifestyle, on sleep, on emotional strategies, spiritual strategies, relationship strategies. All of those things combined will improve your egg quality. So this statement, there's not much you can do, is really bad information. How long does it take to improve egg quality? Takes time, takes about 90 days to mature before ovulation, which means it can take three months for you to increase egg quality, improve egg quality.

Then another piece of advice, plenty of fruit and vegetables, complex carbs, that might not work for everybody, organic food where possible, agreed. Oily foods such as fish, nuts, seeds and oils, avoid trans fats, couldn't agree more. Let's see.

This comes from, this is a fertility center, looks like somewhere in Europe. Nutrition, diet rules, supplements, BMI, acupuncture, yeah, looks great. Agree with all of those things. CoQ10 comes up as the … Then there's on thing, folic acid supplementation has been shown to improve the environment for the developing egg, so that's what we are after, guys. How do we improve the environment for the developing egg? That's how we improve egg quality. We have to improve the environment for the developing egg. Guess where that environment comes from, every single thing you do, every single day.

So I have a free video series for you that I'm going to tell you about in a second that's called The Seven Ways to Better Quality Eggs. And what I have done is looked at all the research, taken in all of my clinical expertise, and boiled down what I have seen actually work for women. What actually works? So there's, as you can see, there are … I'm at the bottom of this page. And I just want to, let's see, seven tips to improve egg quality, Fertility Center of Illinois. Can I improve the quality of my eggs? Acupuncture can increase, so there's acupuncture. Surprised I'm not on this first page, but maybe one day.

There are 146 million responses to this question, so I would just assume that could be overwhelming to you guys. You'll probably get to page three or four and you start to feel burnt out, so you still aren't clear. What are the supplements? I do think the most tested and the most proven ones for improving egg quality seem to be CoQ10, myo-inositol, and melatonin. Those are the three that are most studied. I do also think things like NAC or NAD, two different supplements, can be useful. But I also clinically, I am not a fan of throwing 100 antioxidants at a patient. I just don't think that's smart because the truth is diet is the first defense when it comes to improving egg quality.

You cannot get around it. You cannot out-supplement a shitty diet. You can't take all the CoQ10 in the world and just expect your eggs to get better when you're still eating trans fats, or not eating enough. What I see clinically, often, is women don't eat enough. They definitely don't get enough vegetables. And they definitely don't get enough protein. If you want to make a healthy human structure, you need to eat protein, you need to eat fat, and you need to eat a lot of freaking antioxidant rich foods. That is it, and that is the bottom line. Supplements are an addition. You can't just take CoQ10 or every other supplement that's listed in all the other fertility books and expect to have good quality eggs. That's not how it works.

You can't take a ton of supplements and hate your partner and expect to have good quality eggs. You can't take a ton of supplements and, I don't know, do acupuncture but not change your diet, and expect your egg quality to get better. You can't take a ton of supplements and be chronically stressed out and not sleep enough, and expect your egg quality to get better. It's a multitude of things.

So in my free video series, I boil down what I think are the seven ways, there could've been 24 ways, there could've been 36 ways, seven ways that I think really when we get these seven things on lockdown, you can do it. I have seen it. I have seen women as old as the age of 48 make healthy, genetically normal embryos. I've seen 46, 47 year olds get pregnant naturally in my clinic, working with fertility doctors, doing IVF, not doing IVF, using their own eggs. It can be done.

I've seen women who were in premature ovarian failure of insufficiency, women who never got genetically normal embryos turn things around and start getting normals. I have seen it. I just got an email from a girl yesterday, who did multiple IVFs, failure, failure, failure, started working with me, did an IVF, had success, got normal embryos, miscarried, took the summer off to grieve, to process, to gear up for another IVF. Guess what, naturally pregnant, healthy baby, just made it through the first trimester.

Didn't reach out to me until she was through the first trimester because of the trauma she's been through. So she is now five years older, six years older on this journey. Six years ago, made no genetically normal embryos, was told her eggs were in the shitter. She needed donor eggs, no other options. Then went on to make genetically normals, then started getting pregnant, unfortunately miscarried, now just got pregnant naturally, and she has a healthy child in there.

So don't listen to people who tell you, you can't improve the quality of your eggs. You drop those people from your life. They are not research based. They are not looking at the material. They are not looking at the medicine. They are not understanding how the body works. You can improve the quality of your eggs. I have seen it for two decades. It is no joke, so don't ever doubt your body because it's miraculous. It's resilient as fuck, and you can do this. Okay?

There are so many things that you can do, and you can do this. You are strong. You are fertile. You are healthy. You take back the power over your health and your fertility, and you do the things that you can do for you to improve your overall health. When your health is rock solid, when you feel good every single morning getting out of bed, when you feel strong and fit, and you're nourishing your body, and you're nourishing your soul, and you're in alignment with your passions and your desires, and you're lined up with your partnerships in your life and your relationships in your life, you are vital. You are screaming fertility from all of your cells. That's what improves your egg quality.

Now in the video series, I got specifics for you. I got seven ways. I break it down. I give you a 36 or 35 page PDF on what you can do to take this all home, to take this all in, so the video series is aimeeraupp.com/eggcourse, E-G-G, course, C-O-U-R-S-E. You go there, you sign up. You're going to get five videos. They kick off tomorrow. You get a live Q and A with me at the end of the video series, so make sure you go through the entire video series. Follow all the steps as we have laid out for you, come to that live Q and A. Let me answer your questions. Do not take no for an answer.

And I'm not saying that in a way that is, my head is in the sand, and I'm naïve, and I'm just filling people with false hope because I don't do that. I am not that person. But I do think you have a lot of responsibility here, and I expect you to take it. If you are taking all the supplements and eating all the diet, and you are sleeping your eight to nine hours, but you are in a relationship that you don't like, or you don't want to have sex with your partner, or you're still mad at your partner for whatever happened a couple years ago, that could be impacting your egg quality, guys. I'm not kidding. I have seen it.

If you are doing all the things, and you have a great relationship, but you hate your job, and you still go there every day, and you freaking hate it, and you're so stressed out, that could be impacting your fertility. If you have significant trauma from your past that you have never healed, that will impact your fertility because guess what, the stress hormones in your body play a significant role in follicular development, in that egg development. You've got to check all the boxes.

You need … I'll give you a couple giveaways. You guys know I wrote a book called The Egg Quality Diet. You know I think diet is extremely important here. You know I know inflammation is playing a significant role. It impacts every single cell in your body and the health of those cells, and how those eggs develop in your ovaries. So you know I'm going to talk about diet in this free video series. Another thing I'm going to talk about is sleep. You need good quality sleep. You need to get to bed before 11:00. You need to sleep seven to eight hours every single night, consistency and frequency.

Your body needs rest so it can repair and heal and do its job. And another sneak peek is I'm going to talk to you about community. I'm going to talk to you about emotional, spiritual alignment. You cannot underestimate the power of that when it comes to embryo alignment. That's how I see it. I see them related. You want to make a healthy … What's the word I want to use? Perfectly divisible, healthy embryo that divides properly and makes your little blastocyst that has everything it needs, and the chromosomes divide properly. Guess what that is about? That is starting from alignment.

And what do I mean by alignment? I mean by you being in touch with you. What do I need to do for me? What am I not showing up for in my life? How am I not being honest with myself? How am I in misalignment? How are some of my relationships in misalignment? And it's not about go and … I'm not trying to blame anybody. I think there's a very big difference between blaming and responsibility. I want you to show up and be the best version of you in this world, and I do see that as a huge piece of the fertility puzzle. And so that is your responsibility, and that is not anyone's fault. You're not to blame. But are you at least in the process of discovering yourself, discovering how to better nourish yourself, discovering how to speak your truth, discovering how to ask for what you want, discovering how to be vulnerable? That is so important.

Okay. So go get the video series, aimeeraupp.com/eggcourse. I see a lot of questions in here. I want to kind of come through and answer and see how I can support. I'm going to start on the IG questions here. Let's just here. I know my team is in here too, but the questions always help me get on things that I haven't yet talked about. Let's just see. I saw a bunch. Is there any hope to get pregnant naturally with a diagnosis of blocked tubes? I mean, there are some procedures that can unblock the tubes, but you probably still would need some kind of procedure, like Mayan massage, there are things to do, pelvic floor physical therapy. It depends on the level of the blockage, so it really depends.

But we do need the tubes open and clear for sperm and egg to meet and for them to travel into the uterus. So that might be the case that they can be reopened, and sometimes they can't be, so it really just depends on the case. But I would … Tell us the things to do, please. Okay. Is this video recorded so we can listen later? Always recorded. Does Hashimoto's impact egg quality? 100%. Hashimoto's that's not managed, that's how I should say it because Hashimoto's is an inflammatory autoimmune condition, and when left unmanaged or mismanaged, will create a lot of antibodies and inflammation in your body.

And yes, it's an inflamed state and inflammation directly impacts egg quality. That's the number one thing we see. That's why antioxidants work so well, because they help reduce the oxidative stress that's going on, so reactive, oxidative species, those are not your friends. Those are the things that age us. Those are the things that cause the inflammation in the body and they cause the body to basically age before its time, or not produce healthy cells. And so yes, you have to manage your Hashimoto's. All my books basically talk about autoimmune diseases and how to manage that. Sign up for this egg course. You will get a lot of information there.

And let's see. How does this work on individuals who have to spend 12 plus hours on computers? Wear these guys, they're called blue light glasses. Take breaks, close your computer. I do that. I walk away. I put a timer on my phone and I just don't look at a device. I take breaks. You need to take breaks. You need to take breaks. You need screen breaks. You need blue light glasses. You need some sunlight, some plants behind you, some fresh air. You can take breaks. You need to prioritize that.

How does the diet you suggest fit for type two diabetics with no meds? It's amazing for type two diabetics. I would just say to monitor your glucose. You might need more carbohydrates. But I've seen so many type twos do amazing on it. [inaudible 00:21:03] fibromyalgia. So same thing, it's an inflammatory disorder. Yes, it can definitely impact egg quality. So what about retroflex uterus, does this affect egg quality? That should not, no. Cardiolipin is indeterminate. I think it's causing miscarriages. I've updated my diet and trying to lose weight. Any other advice? I would see a hematologist and see if there's a way that they could support you.

I'm considering going on my anesthesia call team. I'll be off for five days, where I could sleep well. But the other two, a 24 hour shift. Is this a terrible idea? Just try to sleep in complete darkness. Wear a blackout mask. Take melatonin when you go to sleep, and that's it. I think I have seen these long-term night shift kind of situations, or people who take lots of international flights, hasn't been so predominant these days because of COVID, really do impact fertility. And I think it's because the sleep cycles are so off. So when you can sleep, make sure it is good, it is deep sleep. I would take melatonin and try not to do that consistently for too, too long.

Okay. I haven't had any follicles since June after two PRPs when we made two grade A embryos. I have your book. What do you suggest? I haven't had any follicles since June. I have your book. Well, have you followed The Egg Quality Diet? And then take the egg course and get my suggestions there because there's a lot of information in that course. That's what I would do.

And I'm not going to answer that. Normal to have four genetically, five abnormal blasts at 40. So you've got four genetically normal and five abnormal, yeah, I think that's very good. That's 50/50. It's usually 30% of the eggs that are sent off for PGS testing, almost regardless of age, come back genetically normal. So 30% to 50% is a very good response.

Okay. So again, if you've been told donor eggs, if you've been told there's no hope, please check out this video series. I break it down for you, seven ways, there's a Q and A with me after, where you can ask more specific questions. Check out my book, The Egg Quality Diet. But again, I made this free video series. And I'm going through the questions because I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything that's not in the video series. It's in the video series. It starts tomorrow. Please watch every single video. I really think you'll get a lot out of it.

So some say keto is the only way to reduce inflammation. It's conflicting information. I agree. And I know the doctor who says that, and it might work for some people, but long-term, it's not going to work. Too low carbs is going to shut down your progesterone. It's going to shut down your body's ability to ovulate. I just haven't seen it work. And so my diet is not keto, but it's not heavy on carbs. It's heavy on protein and fat, so similar to keto. But you need the vegetables for the antioxidants. So again, I've been doing this for 20 years, so I do think my clinical experience speaks volumes. What I've seen work, I just know works. Does it work for every single person? No. Do we have to tweak? Sure. But that's up to you to figure out what works best for you.

You're going to find conflicting info no matter where you look. You're going to see someone who tells you to do juice cleanses, and that works, someone who tells you to just eat rice, and that works. You never know. You have to find the diet that works best for you. Okay, so can this video series help male fertility? 100%. Would eating nutritious foods be more detrimental or beneficial for egg qualities?

If you have sensitivities to certain foods, don't eat them. Don't eat them. There's plenty of other replacements. In my book, Egg Quality Diet, I go over replacements if you can't have certain foods. All four, five were abnormal. That, yeah, so you need some work on the egg quality piece. You also would consider less meds for the next round. Too much medication, especially in a woman over 40 when doing IVF can compromise egg quality. Can you do the diet if you're a vegan? No. I think you can make adjustments if you're willing to do bone broth and eggs and fish, you can do it. You don't have to eat meat, but there's plenty of other things besides diet in this free video series. Diet is one piece of the seven ways. Diet is one piece of the seven ways, guys. There are six other things I talk about that are extremely important. So go check out the free video series, aimeeraupp.com/eggcourse, E-G-G-C-O-U-R-S-E.

Oh, Jillian, I can't wait to hear your amazing news. I'm looking on Facebook now. Jillian, please email me and tell me the news because I have a list here. Guys, just so you know, I'm going to cover it, I'm going to go like this so you can't read the names. But this list right here is one I've been collecting of … You see how many names are on here, I think there's close to 60 names of women in 2021 that are either more than 20 weeks pregnant or have given birth, just gave birth, obviously, because they got pregnant in 2021, so they're just giving birth.

We've had almost 60 pregnancies in … And this is just my clinic and my coaching clients and my e-course students. So my coaches still haven't collected all their data, so we're probably close to 85 or more pregnancies in the last nine months, guys. That's 10 pregnancies a month. That's insane. That's insane. So Jillian, let me put you on the list. I don't want to … Let's see.

Are there contraindications to using melatonin? I would ask your doctor. Not that I know of, but always ask your doctor. How does melatonin provide quality? There's a couple studies that show it just does improve egg quality. It is part of the hormonal system in the body, but I think it really improves egg quality because it improves the quality of sleep and the quality of restoration in the body and healing. Yeah.

So there we have it, guys. Okay, so please, please, please, sign up for the course. It's not going to be up for long. You have access to it starting tomorrow. There's five videos. At the end of the five videos, there's a live Q and A with me. It happens next week on Wednesday. And then the video series is going to disappear, so you want to take advantage of the video series. There's a PDF that goes along with it so you can get the most out of the video series.

And stay tuned, next week we have a ton of stories of hope. We have so many of these women that have gotten pregnant that want to come and share their stories with you guys, so I have a ton of stories of hope. I'm actually going to also be doing a lot more fertility hot seats in the coming week or so. And there's going to be prizes and giveaways and all sorts of goodies for you guys. So please watch the video series, be at the Q and A. Follow me, continue to follow me on Instagram or Facebook. And keep abreast of all the information because we got lots of exciting stuff happening here for the next week or two.

And yeah, I have hope too, all the stories of hope are meant to inspire and uplift. And I have some clinic days early next week. And then starting Wednesday, Thursday, we're going to start rolling out a ton of live stories of hope. So these are women who were once like you and followed my work, worked with me personally, just did my courses, just read my books. We've gathered from all over, and want to come and share their stories with you of what they did, and how to inspire hope in you because they were once in your shoes. So love you guys, have a beautiful day. And I will see you soon. Check out the course, aimeeraupp.com/eggcourse. See you there. Cha, cha, cha. Have a good day.
