My Travel Bag Essentials {Organic + NonToxic Skincare that WORKS}

As the world is starting to open up and the weather is beautiful for outside activities (even while social distancing) it's important to think about what you're throwing in your bag when you head to the beach, for a hike, or even just outside for a picnic.

In this video, I talk about my travel bag essentials. What are YOUR beach bag essentials?

I get to join you every week and talk about my favorite things like health and beauty and wellness and fertility and emotional sanity and immunity, all things to help you live your best life, your most reawakened life.

For those of you that are brand new to me, again, I'm Aimee Raupp of aimeeraupp.com. I am a women's health and wellness expert, I've written several books, I have them all right here. Let's see. Here we go. This is the best-selling of all my three books, Yes, You Can Get Pregnant, then I got this baby, Body Belief, which came out very recently on how to heal autoimmune diseases also perfect for women dealing with endometriosis and PCOS or habitual miscarriages. And this is my first baby, Chill Out & Get Healthy, she came out 10 years ago.

And today's topic we're talking about my beach bag essentials or my travel bag essentials. And I wanted to say that, something I'm very, very, very proud of is that I wrote Chill Out & Get Healthy 11 years ago. And I talked about green beauty all the way back then, way before it was trendy. I also talked about soy way before it was trendy. I also mentioned gluten in that book, I talked a lot about a lot of things, and bone broth, that are very, very, very trendy right now. And it just makes me feel good to know that, A, I'm consistent in my recommendations and have been for over a decade and B, that I really do have integrity, it makes me feel good about myself and about how I show up for you guys.

So, today we're going to talk about, like I said, my travel bag essentials. This is typically the bag I'll leave the house with, it's my A bag. I love this bag we also have it in a T for our last name, which is Temple. You guys know me as Aimee Raupp, but I'm also Aimee Temple, which is my married name. And I'm going to go through everything I have in the bag. So it's summertime here on the East Coast and we live in a beach town. So we go to the beach a lot. So basically this bag is just beach ready.

And so I have sunscreen, I have all sorts of stuff in there, and it's also just ready to travel. I have a four-year-old, and so we have the things that I need for him basically that are quick, easy, simple. I didn't have time to fill it with snacks or some other things that we always travel with, but I'll give you the scoop on the things that I always basically have in the bag, especially for him. My husband and I don't get as much preparation as he does.

But I've been talking about nontoxic household, bath beauty products, again, for 11 years. And in my first book, in Chill Out & Get Healthy, I mentioned the top I think it's 12… There's a chapter in this book called Beauty You Can't Buy at Sephora and it's chapter eight, on page 172, look at this, this book is getting so old it's yellowing. I talk about aesthetic beauty, I talk about eating organic, the dirty dozen, and then foods to beautify your skin.

But then I also get into… I want to just get there, the important things you need to do for sleep. And then I get into the low down on makeup and beauty products. And in there I talk about the most common toxic chemicals in your skincare products. I have a whole chart of them. I was way ahead of my time. Look at that. If you guys don't have this book, it is a good book, it's a classic.

And so I want to go over with you what is essential for me and my family when we go on an outing. So let's kind of see what's in this bag. Again, summertime over here on the East Coast, so I got my new hat from Anthropologie, which I love. My mom got it for me. She bought it for me, she's very sweet. I kind of love it. Right? Fabulous. I always have my hat, again, summertime. Let's see what else. Recently right now we have masks, these masks we got from, I'm going to forget the name, but I will put the link in the notes I promise. But she's a woman who makes masks instead of… She was making hair ribbons. So these are masks for James, always have this going handy right now.

This is my body butter in a travel size container. This is my old sugar scrub container. So I do always have my hand cream on, and then I have this bag, this is the bag that basically goes into every bag that I use. Because sometimes we go hiking and we take James's knapsack.

This is usually the bag that'll come with us the beach. But sometimes I consolidate and I'm just taking one bag but this bag kind of always goes with us. Okay? I love this bag. They're these eco-friendly, what are they called? Something Bakovalove and the sand goes right through them. How amazing is that? So, let's go through what we got in here.

You're going to see a lot of the same brand products because I am a junkie for my own stuff. And I'm not here to self-promote, I just love the products I make because they're freaking awesome and they work and I've been using them for a decade. And I love my skin and I love my products and I got a hair tie, everybody needs a hair tie, right? I like these because my hair doesn't get caught in them.

And let's see, what else do we have? Okay. So, I'm going to go through one at a time. These are the sunblocks that I have in the bag right now. I have the Badger and the Babo, this is great because it's like a stick, easy for the kiddos face and neck and ears. And I also will use it on me. And then we have the Badger, this is the 15, if I want a little more sunshine. We also have this one, the Kiss My Face Kids, this score's a little higher it's like a four on EWG, but it's pretty easy to apply. So, sometimes I'll use that if I need to get it on James.

I also always have this in my bag, this is Dew Skin by Beautycounter. And this has a, I think an SPF 20 in there so it's a tinted moisturizer, you guys can see. What's on my face right now even is I do a mix of my rejuvenating facial oil, and so I do like one pump of each basically. And that is my sunscreen along with this baby. That's my sunscreen here. And then on my chest and all the other parts, I'm using a combination of these two.

This is one of my new favorite deodorants, Each & Every, I think it scores a two or a three on EWG. Hannah Bronfman turned me on to this. I ordered the travel size sets. So there's five small deodorants. These are so great to have on the go.  And then here's the mix, I have three lip products because I'm a nut.

So I have my regular lip balm, Aimee Raupp Beauty regular lip balm, I have my Aimee Raupp Beauty tinted lip balm if I want a little color on my lip and then I have my Beautycounter lip gloss, which I love. And I want to show you my tinted lip balm as this color, but when you put it on, it really just like a little sheen of color and I love it. I pretty much always have my blemish stick and not for breakouts. We use this a lot for cuts or scrapes as well, bug bites is really helpful as well for this.

So again, this is all what's just kind of in my essential travel bag. And then most essential, these days especially, is… And this is a brand new product, so I've been using this product for months in the home and my team encouraged me to now create it so I can have it available for you guys. Is this product it's called Healthy Hands. Guess what? It's a hand sanitizer.

So the ingredients are isopropyl alcohol, calendula oil, goldenseal extract which… So calendula oil is a known antibacterial agent, goldenseal is an herbal use in Chinese medicine, right? So I'm a practitioner of Chinese medicine. It is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal. So there's goldenseal extract in there. Then essential oils of lavender, lemon, tea tree, and geranium, all of which are also very powerful in fighting those little germs or critters.

Literally I emptied out also my purse, I just want to show you how many of these I have. Three. And this one isn't labeled because I was making it before I even had labels, look how long we've been using it for, for months. So I have one in every bag basically and we don't go anywhere without this and this, these days, so masks, we have adult size ones too, we just had James' inside here. As we wash it, we spray our hands.

And so the best part about this hand sanitizer, is so it has alcohol and you can smell it, which I think people like. You can also smell the essential oils which are lovely. With the calendula oil leaves you feeling hydrated, not dry. So the alcohol does not dry out the skin. Again, I've been using this for months, several times a day.

I wipe down kind of everything with it too. So if we're out at the store, I wipe down the shopping cart, if I'm pushing the stroller, I wipe that down, phones, tablets, anything. Like if we go to the bathroom and James needs to touch that door knob, because he's just a boy and that's… I literally I'll spray the door knob or right after spray his hands he loves to use it, he loves the smell of it.

And then the other essential item that we've been using for years, and I give it to all the moms in James' class, again, a product I've just never labeled or sold to you guys, but we use it, and it's very effective, is my Bug Shield. So this is basically an insect repellent. And again, special ingredients here, it's distilled water, aloe vera, essential oils of citronella, eucalyptus, geranium, tea tree, and lemongrass.

And these all have properties for mosquitoes, bugs, even ticks. So, we have a lot of ticks around here so I always I'm spraying down James' ankles like knee down, just spray him down, I've only found one tick on him so far this season and I mean he's in the dirt and the woods all the time. And it was a bigger ticket, it wasn't a small tick and I was able to just pull it out.

But so these items, brandy new, always in my travel bag and I have a special for you guys. So they're both $16, which I think is very marketably priced last you quite a while. I mean, look at this bottle is almost empty and again like I said, have it in my travel bag, this is probably two or three months old, this one. They smell amazing, they work, they're effective… “Is it okay to…” Yes, oh that's the only thing, oh my God, you are amazing. Yes, these are both pregnancy, trying to conceive, breastfeeding safe, like all of my products.

So even in this, I had in here some Rosemary and I pulled it from the ingredient list because Rosemary is not great for women trying to conceive or pregnancy. So yes, totally safe for fertility, trying to conceive, pregnancy, breastfeeding, all of the things. Don't spray the bug spray in your eyes, I mean, I think that's the obvious. Don't spray the hand sanitizer in your eyes, I mean, that's really the only contrary indication.

We go for hikes every single day and my little guy just loves to play outside and I mean, I spray him down on… But I probably use like eight to 10 sprays a day. And the best part about the sanitizer is, it's almost 70% rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. So it's highly effective just in that regard for fighting germs, but add in the calendula oil and the goldenseal, which you're not going to find in any other hand sanitizer out there, I'll tell you that right now. Maybe calendula, but not goldenseal, the calendula though is the key because of that oil.

Like my hands feel great right now, they do not feel dry on any level. I've been using another brand that is natural, that I was using for a while, for the years in the clinic. And it's very drying to my skin because it's just alcohol and I think essential oil of lavender, really drying my cuticles would dry, what's nice about this, is the calendula. So the calendula has some antibacterial properties and then it's also an oil.

I think it's like eight ounces of, or 10 ounces of alcohol to two ounces of the calendula oil, then a little bit of the goldenseal, which is also an extract and it's alcohol free, the goldenseal so not too drying. And then if you want to try any of the other products that I can't live without, this is my rejuvenating facial oil, my lip balms and again blemish stick.

It just came up in one of my groups, the question of, I should make like a bug bite roller, and I said, “We actually just use this, we use the blemish stick for everything.” I use this for fever sores too, I use this for cuts scrapes of any kind, of course pimples, it works really well for pimples blemish, but it has white willow bark in there, calendula goldenseal, really good properties to actually take the itch away as well, BOH chamomile lemons it's very soothing.

So the sunscreens will change, we also have a Aimee Approved Sunscreen sheet. So I alternate all the time. It just kind of depends. There's probably 20 different sunscreens in this house. This is just what happens to be in the beach bag right now. There's just a bunch of different ones that we like.

This is what's on my skin basically every day. If I'm going out for a walk though in the morning, you guys have heard me talk, I do get unprotected sunlight at least 10 minutes a day and I will just put this on, all my facial oils do have a little bit of sunscreen, like a six, two and eight, just because the oils themselves have some naturally occurring SPF. So, but when I'm at the beach or I'm out for long periods of time or a little bit of makeup on, I do both. The Dew Skin by Beautycounter, along with my Aimee Raupp Beauty rejuvenating. That's the one that works best for my skin, it has ghee in it, it's very rich, I love it.

My travel deodorant by Each and Every, I do love this. My lip balms, the masks. And then of course, this day and age, we all want to be traveling with hand sanitizer. And if you are in the summer season, like we are, the Bug Shield is amazing. Let's see. And again, everything fertility proof, everything trying to conceive proof, everything Aimee approved.

And I love the color of these  products, That is the lemon essential oil that does that and the calendula. They both have that pretty green, that's so pretty. I love that green and it smells delightful. So oh, other things, snacks, snacks that I always travel with for James.

Applesauce pouches, organic applesauce pouches, he loves them. Larabars, he loves them. And usually Organic Valley Cheese Sticks, he loves those. And then the Happy Baby, he loves the green pouch, so it has like spinach and pear and broccoli, I think. And then for my husband and I we'll always do those Paleo Angel's Power Balls, we'll travel with those, “Snacks for trying to conceive.”

So I do have an on the go snack list as well. They're also listed in all of my books, but things that I, again, I always have is I love those sea snacks that are in olive oil, we travel with those. We travel with the Larabars, we travel with the pouches, like I said, the Paleo Angel Power Balls always was a great for trying to conceive snacks.

The Bison bars by Epic and also the beef sticks. Those are great snacks on the go, hard boiled eggs, which I just ate one before I got on with you guys. Let's see, what else? I'm trying to think. What else I throw in my bag. I was going to read from the book. Fruit and oh, nut butter packets, if you're eating nut butters or coconut butter, Coconut Mama Art to Sauna is the brand that I love and plantain chips, we do the banana plantain chips, those are always with us, they always go to the beach with us.

If we're at beach we'd do those Quinn gluten-free pretzels too, those are always great. If I pack in the cooler, there's always some watermelon, pomegranate seeds, James loves those, his pouches, the Apple sauce, the cheese stick, the sea snacks the plantain chips, James likes plantain chips and hummus or carrots and hummus he'll have that. I don't do well with beans, I don't do a lot of nuts either. I'll make like a tuna salad or chicken salad and something like that with the chips are always great for us for the beach.

So to sum up, I think this is one of the best hand sanitizers out there on the market. And I know it's mine and I'm going to toot my own horn, but no one else has goldenseal and no one else is super fertility friendly or trying to conceive safe. So check it out, check it out. Okay guys, love you. Have a wonderful day.
